Who We Are

As well as a successful motor racing team, Academy Motorsport specialise in car sales and sourcing, corporate and private trackdays, and race tuition.

The team’s results speak for themselves, with Ginetta G20 and Ginetta Junior championship titles to their name, as well as a strong placing in the European GT4 Series.

In 2018, the team will field a two car entry in the British GT Championship. The first of the team’s two Aston Martin Vantage GT4 race cars will be driven by Team Owner Matt Nicoll-Jones and Will Moore, with Jan Jonck and Tom Wood sharing the second.

In 2018 Academy Motorsport have five main drivers across the two championships. A number of other drivers will join the team throughout the season as one-off appearances. Meet the guys and girl behind the wheel.

Matt Nicoll-Jones

Matt Nicoll-Jones

Doubling his Managing Director responsibilities with also being one of the teams drivers, Matt has been amongst the racing scene for many years. Having learnt his race craft in karting, he has worked his way through the ranks, even forming his own successful race team in the process. Matt shares one of the team’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4 race cars with Will Moore in British GT and with Fiona James in the GT4 European Series.

Will Moore

After being a valued member of the Academy Motorsport driving force in 2017, Will Moore returned to the team this season. Once again he is sharing the number 61 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 car with Matt Nicoll-Jones in the British GT Championship.

Driver - Jan Jonck

Jan Jonck

Jan’s moor racing career began in karting, as with many young racing drivers. After making his mark in a number of single-seater series’, such as Formula Ford, Formula 3 and Formula 4, he made the switch to GT racing for 2018. Since joining Academy Motorsport, Jan shares one of the team’s Aston Martin GT4 race cars with fellow team debutant, Tom Wood.

Tom Wood

New to the team for 2018, 16 year old Tom has joined the team from the Ginetta Junior Championship. Although new to endurance motorsport, Tom is no stranger to success, and his results reflect this.

Driver - Fiona James

Fiona James

Fiona has rejoined the team in 2018, as part of the team’s entry into the GT4 European Series. Despite having only started her racing career in 2006, Fiona collected numerous podium finishes in her debut season, before progressing into the GT ranks in 2007 onwards. With experience of racing Ginetta’s, GT3 cars and a Praga R1, Fiona is well equipped to navigate the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 machine. Fiona is sharing the Aston Martin with Matt Nicoll-Jones, as part of the team’s GT4 European Series Campaign.
