Academy Motorsport Battles Through a Testing Weekend at Snetterton
Snetterton delivered a typically unpredictable British GT weekend. With rain-affected practice, tricky qualifying, and two chaotic races, Academy Motorsport’s Ford Mustang GT4s showed plenty of fight but had to dig deep to bring home results.
Race 1 – Early Promise, Mixed Fortunes
The opening race saw Marco Signoretti and Erik Evans making progress in the #61 Mustang before a mechanical issue forced them into retirement. A tough result given the pace they had shown in the opening laps.
In the #62 car, Will Moore and Matt Nicoll-Jones kept it clean and consistent. While not the team’s strongest track, they managed the race well and crossed the line in P19 overall, adding to the points tally.
Race 2 – Grit Over Glory
Sunday’s contest was no less dramatic. Evans and Signoretti in the #61 fought hard through the midfield chaos, dealing with safety cars and tyre challenges to secure P18 overall at the flag.
For Moore and Nicoll-Jones in the #62, an encouraging start was cut short by technical issues, forcing an early retirement after just a handful of laps.
Snetterton may not have delivered the silverware the team was chasing, but there were positives to take – strong pace in patches, resilience under pressure, and another chance to gather data in changing conditions. With the team already digging into the issues, the focus now shifts to the next round, where Academy will be looking to turn speed into results.
