Academy Motorsport Heads to Portimao for the Final Round of the GT4 European Series
The 2026 GT4 European Series comes to a close this weekend at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, and Academy Motorsport will be there with both cars on the grid. It’s the season finale, it’s Portimão, and for the first time this year the full team is racing together.
Car 61 brings Erik Evans and Cameron McLeod to the Algarve, with Car 62 fielding Nathan Vanspringel alongside Michael Tosi. Four drivers, two Mustangs, one last chance to end the season on a high.
Portimão is one of the most dramatic circuits on the calendar. The Autodromo Internacional do Algarve rolls and dips across the hillside above the Atlantic coast, with elevation changes of nearly 70 metres across the lap. The blind crest into Turn 1 is one of the most committed entries in European GT racing, and the long downhill run through the middle sector puts a premium on braking stability and mechanical grip. It’s a circuit that rewards drivers who commit early and trust the car.
Free practice runs on Friday afternoon, with qualifying and Race 1 both on Saturday. Race 2 closes the season on Sunday. Both races are live on GT World.
