Superb weekend at Snetterton for Academy Motorsport and its Ford Mustang GT4
It was a race winning performance for Academy Motorsport at Snetterton last weekend, as the team kick started the second half of the British GT Championship season in style.
After a difficult start to the year, the team arrived at Snetterton ready to challenge for honours. With two one-hour races ahead, Will Moore took control of the first qualifying session, for the opening race, claiming a third place grid start. After 60 minutes of action, it was a sixth place finish for the team.
Matt Cowley secured a seventh place spot on the grid for race two. After a strong opening stint, Cowley handed the team’s Ford Mustang GT4 over to Moore. In a race of changeable conditions, the track surface suited the Ford Mustang, as Moore carved his way through the field, steering the team to its first GT4 victory of the season, and Moore’s first British GT race win.
Commenting on the victory, Academy Motorsport’s Managing Director, Matt Nicoll-Jones, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the whole team, what a performance! We knew we had the pace and capacity to challenge for victory, and I know we have a strong driver pairing and a superb race car in the Ford Mustang. It’s a brilliant end to the weekend.”
There is now a slight break for the British GT Championship, with the next outing taking place at Oulton Park on 11th/12th September.
