Italian adventure for Academy Motorsport
ust one week after claiming second place in the Aston Martin Festival at the infamous Le Mans 24 Hour race, one of the biggest motor races in the world, Academy Motorsport headed to Misano, for the third round of the GT4 European Series.
Fiona James and Matt Nicoll-Jones were reunited behind the wheel for the Italian adventure, as the team prepared for two one hour races around the fantastic Misano circuit.
Following free practice and qualifying, both drivers were ready for the first race. A steady first outing saw the pair steer their way through an ultra competitive field, to claim 27th place as the chequered flag fell.
Amongst an impressive field of 43 cars, the Academy Motorsport duo raced their way through the second one hour endurance outing, to land in 33rd place.
Commenting on the weekend, Matt said: “The GT4 Series is extremely competitive, so to claim two solid results is a bonus. Fiona did a great job as always, and despite a number of retirements in race two, we managed to hold on and claim a result.”
Continuing their busy schedule, Academy Motorsport head to Spa Francorchamps for a double header. The weekend of 20th – 22nd July will mark the next round for both the British GT Championship and the GT4 European Series, making it an eventful weekend for the team.
