Next stop Spa Francorchamps.

Academy Motorsport Set for Spa Return at British GT Speedweek

The British GT Championship reaches its halfway point this weekend at the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, with Academy Motorsport ready to take on the first two-hour endurance race of the season.

Spa’s rollercoaster layout is a favourite among drivers and fans alike, and after a two-year absence from the British GT calendar, Academy’s Mustang GT4s are back to tackle one of motorsport’s most iconic circuits.

The 120-minute format, with its mandatory refuelling and driver changes, adds a fresh layer of strategy for teams. For Academy Motorsport, the challenge is clear: deliver consistency, maximise pitstop execution, and unleash the Mustang’s pace across Spa’s high-speed sweepers and tight technical sections.

Weather at Spa is always unpredictable, often swinging from dry to wet within a single lap. That adds another variable into the mix for Sunday’s headline race, where Academy will look to combine sharp strategy with outright performance.

Academy Motorsport’s entry underlines the strength of the grid, with 17 GT4 challengers set to line up. The Ford Mustang GT4 continues to prove itself as a front-running contender in both Silver and Pro-Am battles, and Spa’s demanding layout will provide another proving ground for both car and crew.

Fans can follow the action live via GT World’s YouTube channel, with coverage starting Saturday. For those trackside, the event is free to attend and forms part of Spa Speedweek’s packed schedule.

Academy Motorsport arrives in Belgium determined to keep the Mustang at the sharp end of the GT4 fight — and with Spa’s history of drama and unpredictability, anything can happen.
