Podium and Near-Miss as Academy Motorsport Shine at Monza

Academy Motorsport left Monza with a podium finish and plenty of encouragement after both Ford Mustang GT4s delivered competitive performances across the race weekend at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.

Car 62 of Cameron McLeod and Marco Signoretti was the pace-setter of the weekend. Starting eighth in Race 1 on Saturday evening, the pair ran at the front of the field throughout and crossed the line in a position that would have been a race win, only for a 10-second stop-and-hold penalty served in the pit box to drop them to seventh at the final classification. The speed was undeniably there, and they proved it in Race 2.

Starting 13th on Sunday after qualifying, Mcleod and Signoretti charged through the field to finish third overall. It was a well-earned podium and a result that reflected the genuine pace the car had shown all weekend. Their best lap of 1:55.679 on lap 25 was among the quickest in the Silver class.

Car 61 of Nathan Vanspringel and Erik Evans made strong progress in Race 1, climbing from 31st on the grid to finish 12th — one of the biggest gains in the field. Race 2 was a solid run to 19th across a competitive 39-car classified field.

The results move Academy Motorsport to fifth in the Silver Teams standings with 28 points after two rounds, with four rounds still to run.

Round 3 takes place at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on 25–27 June.
